Volunteer water detectives wanted!
Want to know what’s in your local waterway? We’re looking for volunteers to collect samples from water bodies in Eastbourne, Polegate and Pevensey. The samples will be tested by Strandliners and be key exhibits in the Museum of Water, curated by Compass Community Arts and displayed at The View Hotel in Eastbourne.
Interested? Here’s how to get involved:
1. Join us for a briefing session to learn how to take your sample safely and scientifically. Choose one from the following three drop-in sessions:
Hampden Park Lake (meet on the lawn opposite the tea chalet)
Tues 29 April, 10am – 12 noon
Motcombe Gardens (meet by the pond)
Sat 4 May, 2pm – 4pm
Eastbourne Spring Water Festival EcoFair at Western Lawns
Sat 10 May, 10am-3 pm
Strandliners will be on the Blue Heart stand
2. Sign up to collect your sample at one of the chosen testing locations.
3. On Thursday 15 May, collect a sample from your selected location, and bring it to The View Hotel in Eastbourne for testing. You’ll be allocated a time slot.
We’ll also be collecting information connected to these local water courses, so please bring any old photographs, stories or interesting facts with you!
