SuDs in Schools funding awarded to Blue Heart

We have secured funding from the Department for Education to construct Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDs) in schools. These collect rainwater and prevent water from entering the main sewer system. This will reduce surface water flooding in the schools’ grounds and surrounding area. There will be an ambitious engagement programme to get students and teachers involved.

The grant will cover 7 schools in the Blue Heart project area this year, and we have plans to apply for more SuDs funding to work with 27 more in the following two years. They were chosen according to risk of surface water flooding, and whether rainwater currently drains directly into the main sewer system.
