Pevensey and Westham CofE Primary School

“We are very happy with the planters and artwork; they’ve made a really positive impact and never fail to raise a smile – and questions about sustainability, which is amazing!”
What did students ask for?
120 students proposed vibrant SuDS planter designs featuring sparkles, pink, rainbows, and natural elements like flowers, plants, animals, fish, and mushrooms. They emphasised aesthetics and functionality, requesting planters ‘look good’ (with the school’s logo incorporated into the design) but also be ‘big’ and ‘strong.’
What did staff ask for?
• Wanted to incorporate bespoke artwork into SuDS planter designs.
• Requested artwork to have a focus on either school values or inspirational quotes relating to the environment or sustainability.
What was delivered?
• Eight SuDS planters
• 1,969 litres of water storage
Six art installations featuring the school logo, two painted benches, two decorated planters, four stencils, and a rainbow mural were added to brighten the space and boost engagement. Three overhead ‘clouds’ create a rain effect when filled with water.
“The SuDS for Schools project at Pevensey and Westham School has been delivered as expected – I would go as far as to say it has exceeded expectations, the outcomes have been wonderful.”
