Missy, Stanley, and the Flood

It may not seem like it, but our area is at high risk of flooding, and we want to make sure that as many people as possible are aware, prepared, and confident that they can recover from flooding if and when it happens.

In that moment, it can be tricky for adults to stop and explain what’s happening for children, so we asked author Jenny Bailey to write ‘Missy and Stanley’s Tale’, to help children understand. It includes information that parents and teachers can talk about with kids, so they are better prepared and know what to do.

It features Missy the cat and Stanley the dog, who find themselves carried along on a curious adventure when a flood arrives at their home. Don’t worry – it all works out in the end!

The book will be sent to all primary schools and libraries in the Blue Heart area this month. Other family-focussed organisations can request a free copy by emailing: contact@blueheart.org.uk
