Modern Flood Myths
Imagining the future of Eastbourne in the context of climate change
Modern Flood Myths is a powerful and imaginative exhibition exploring the human response to flooding— past, present, and future. Created through a collaboration between the Printers Playhouse Creative Writing Group and the PPH Art Club, this exhibition brings together evocative prose, poetry and visual art developed over a three-month period of creative exchange – writers inspired by artworks, and artists responding to creative writing.
The works on display draw on how artists, storytellers and scientists understood and represented the human experience of flooding and climate change in the past. They reflect our lived experience in the present, and our predictions, hopes and fears for the future.
How can we adapt and thrive in a world where extreme weather becomes more frequent and intense? How can creative work inform and inspire us?
This exhibition offers new narratives that speak to the environmental and emotional impact of flooding, inviting the community to engage with these shared concerns and collective visions.
